1st stop after leaving the airport Zimbali Golf and Country Club. Our original start time was 1130, but as we arrived by 0750 the kind man in the pro shop fitted us in at 0900. We joined another couple on the 1st tee called Lelane and Peter. We later learned they were from Sweden andContinue reading “Durban 2020 – Zimbali Golf and Zimbali View Eco Guest House”

My Dream
Reflections on a wilderness desert of ice
My trip to Greenland has come to an end and below are some of the better photos taken on the trip with a Sony RX10. Having had such an amazing time in Greenland on arriving home I have researched my next trip ‘Antartica’. I am planning to go in November 2020. Day 6, Copenhagen
Well all good things must come to an end and tomorrow I fly home. I have thoroughly enjoyed this trip it has been a real adventure. The journey skirts the edge of the ice and as you approach an iceberg the boat slows then speeds up. Just fascinating how the locals navigate the ice asContinue reading “Day 4 Ilumanaq Settlement boat trip, tour and gourmet lunch”

Day three walk to Sermermiut and City tour Ilulissat
Day three started with a walk from the hotel Arctic down to the World of Greenland office in the centre of Ilulissat. From here I picked up my first tour which was a 3 km hike to Sermermiut. Along the way we saw the remnants of old Inuit settlements and as we approached the UNESCOContinue reading “Day three walk to Sermermiut and City tour Ilulissat”
Day 2 journeying to Ilulissat
The day started early in Copenhagen with a relatively decent breakfast then hopped on the metro to the airport. Checked in my luggage, cleared customs then headed out to the boarding gate stopping along the way to get my water bottle filled, alas I couldn’t find a coffee shop who would oblige. I ended upContinue reading “Day 2 journeying to Ilulissat”
Stage 1 complete
Well stage 1 of my journey is complete I’ve arrived safely in Copenhagen and just enjoying a nice cold Carlsberg at Cafe Baaden on the sea front park Amager Strand. My first impressions of Copenhagen and surrounding area is how flat everywhere is. Apparently there are very few hills in Denmark on any of theContinue reading “Stage 1 complete”
